Automotive Workshop Team Leader

About the role

A well-established automotive group in the UAE, which represents recognised automotive brands including MG, is hiring a Team Leader for its workshop in Abu Dhabi. The role leads technicians, ensures repairs are completed on time and to quality standards, and supports smooth workshop operations.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate work orders to technicians according to workload, skills and priorities, and monitor their productivity, attendance and clocking.
• Ensure repairs finish within agreed timelines without compromising quality, and coordinate with Service Advisors on work orders and repair requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support, guidance, coaching and mentoring to technicians.
• Investigate repeat repairs and customer concerns, carrying out inspections, road tests and diagnostic assessments where needed.
• Make sure technicians follow manufacturer repair procedures, workshop manuals and tool-use guidelines, and turn customer concerns into clear technical work instructions.
• Liaise with the manufacturer for technical assistance and reporting, and check repair quality and documentation.
• Report quality issues, tooling needs, resource constraints and lost time to the Workshop Manager, and promote safety, environmental compliance and protection of customer vehicles.
• Support Service Advisors with initial diagnostics and vehicle handovers, and keep the workshop organised and efficient.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Automotive, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of automotive workshop experience, preferably as a qualified technician with leadership responsibilities.
• Relevant technical certifications or professional qualifications are required.
• Valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair procedures and workshop operations.
• Ability to lead and support technicians while working independently with minimal supervision.
• Organizational and prioritization skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and workshop management systems.
