Aviation Medical Examiner - Class 1 Privileges

About the role

Etihad Airways is looking for an Aviation Medical Examiner with Class 1 privileges to manage its clinical caseload and provide medical expertise in aviation medicine. The role ensures that aircrew receive the best possible service, in line with regulatory standards and international best practice, based at the airline's hub in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialized care according to aviation medical standards and regulations, and assess aircrew fitness to fly
• Handle medical emergencies in the Medical Centre clinical area and deliver the care needed to protect patient health and safety
• Take part in review and planning activities for specialist services to improve operational efficiency
• Collect and analyse data on specialist services and report key insights to management
• Help formulate policies and procedures and prepare directives on aviation and preventative medicine to keep services consistent and aligned with regulations
• Develop clinical care pathways with strategic healthcare provider partners so aircrew receive seamless service

Required profile

• A recognized qualification or certification in Aviation Medicine, with Class 1 aeromedical examination privileges or equivalent authorization under the candidate's applicable system, subject to assessment and approval for the role
• At least 10 years of relevant medical experience, including 5 years in aviation medicine
• Experience in complex aeromedical assessments, aircrew fitness evaluations and reinstatement cases
