Banquet Captain – Food & Beverage

About the role

The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the smooth execution of group functions and events within the hotel’s food and beverage outlets. This on‑site, full‑time position ensures that guests receive high‑quality service while maintaining the standards of W Hotels.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate service needs to chefs and stewards and coordinate banquet set‑up.
• Calculate total charges for group functions, prepare and present checks to group contacts for payment.
• Ensure banquet rooms, restaurants and coffee‑break areas are ready for service, including proper centrepieces and table settings.
• Inspect cleanliness and presentation of china, glass and silver before use.
• Check in with guests to confirm satisfaction and address any special dietary requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift and follow all safety and security policies.
• Uphold uniform standards, welcome guests professionally and communicate clearly with team members.
• Perform physical tasks such as moving, lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 25 lb and standing for extended periods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant food‑and‑beverage experience.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.
