Bell Captain

About the role

The Bell Captain at W Hotels greets guests, assists with luggage and helps coordinate guest arrivals and departures. The role also involves supporting management in hiring, training, scheduling and coaching staff, and acting as a role model for the team.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests, tell them about property amenities, services, hours and local areas of interest, and give directions
• Open doors and help guests enter and leave the property, and assist with luggage storage and retrieval
• Transport guest luggage to and from rooms or the bell area, and help guests load and unload vehicles
• Arrange transportation such as taxis, shuttles or limousines and record advance requests
• Dispatch bell or valet staff as needed and explain parking procedures
• Follow up with guests to make sure their requests or problems are satisfied
• Act as a departmental role model and support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and coaching employees
• Maintain positive working relationships, follow company policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and stay aware of undesirable persons on the premises
• Keep a clean, professional appearance, protect confidential information, welcome guests, assist people with disabilities and answer phones with good etiquette
• Meet quality assurance standards, read small print accurately, move quickly and stand, sit or walk for long periods, and lift objects up to 50 pounds unaided

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• At least 1 year of related work experience
• Less than 1 year of supervisory experience
• No license or certification required
