Book Store Keeper

About the role

GEMS Education is hiring a Book Store Keeper in Dubai. The role manages the school store, keeps accurate records and stock, and supports the school's purchasing and accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the school store with accurate record keeping and storage, and carry out periodic inventory verification
• Work with the Purchasing Officer on budget preparation and place orders for textbooks, uniforms, stationery and educational resources
• Process printing orders for reports, letterheads, diaries and similar items
• Assist the school Accountant with day-to-day accounting procedures
• Help parents, students and staff with purchases and enquiries, handle complaints and resolve issues professionally
• Process cash, card and online payments, reconcile daily sales, prepare financial reports and handle refunds and exchanges
• Maintain accurate records, prepare reports for school leadership and finance teams, and manage supplier communications and deliveries
• Follow GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct, attend staff meetings and committees, and perform other duties asked by managers

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication and professional email etiquette
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks during busy periods and meet deadlines for textbook distribution and school events
• Attention to detail in stock recording, pricing and issuing items to students
• Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems and familiarity with inventory management software
• Subject to comprehensive pre-employment checks, including identity, qualifications, employment history, references and criminal record checks
