Branch Accountant

About the role

The Branch Accountant is a key member of the Finance & Accounts team at Danube Building Materials in the UAE, reporting to the Finance Manager. The role covers all branch-level accounting activities, including accurate recording of cash and cheque receipts, thorough reconciliations and reliable financial reports that support the branch's operations and compliance with corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day branch accounting and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Record and deposit daily cash and cheque receipts accurately and promptly.
• Perform regular cash, bank and intercompany general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and distribute daily, weekly and monthly sales reports.
• Issue receipts, refunds and exchange documents in line with established procedures.
• Carry out monthly, quarterly and year-end closing activities within set timelines.
• Maintain and update prepaid and provision schedules monthly.
• Work with internal audit and corporate finance to uphold internal controls.
• Assist in branch budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in branch or corporate accounting.
• Strong knowledge of UAE GAAP and relevant tax regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and numerical accuracy skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal English; Arabic is a plus.
• Integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.
• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA preferred but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle.
• Advanced MS Excel.
