Business Development Specialist

About the role

Imbono is seeking a Business Development Specialist to drive growth within its Commodities, Oil and Gas team. The role focuses on identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across crude oil, petroleum products and gas markets. You will work closely with trading, finance, legal and operational teams to expand the company’s market presence.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in strategy formulation and evaluate key transactions, including alliances, collaborations, M&A and licensing initiatives.
• Build, maintain and expand a network of industry contacts such as suppliers, off‑takers, producers and intermediaries.
• Proactively originate new trading leads, counterparties and tangible business opportunities for the trading desk.
• Conduct needs assessments to uncover emerging issues, barriers and stakeholder concerns.
• Manage strategic partnering, including partner identification, relationship building and negotiation of partnership agreements.
• Develop stakeholder engagement by identifying key stakeholders and understanding their needs.

Required profile

• Strong strategic planning and market analysis capabilities.
• Proven ability to build and nurture relationships with diverse industry players.
• Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and needs assessment.
