Captain - Outside Catering

About the role

JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, a 5-star hotel in downtown Dubai with 10 restaurants and lounges, is hiring a full-time Catering Captain for outside catering events. The position is based in Business Bay, Dubai, and involves coordinating service for group functions, ensuring tables and equipment are ready and communicating guest needs to the kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate service needs to chefs and stewards throughout functions
• Total up charges for group functions and present checks to group contacts for payment
• Ensure banquet rooms, restaurants and coffee breaks are ready for service
• Check that centerpieces are properly displayed on every table
• Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of china, glass and silver before use
• Check in with guests to ensure their satisfaction
• Set tables according to event type and service standards
• Pass on additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests to the kitchen
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and follow company safety and security policies, reporting accidents and unsafe conditions to the manager
• Keep uniform and personal appearance clean and professional, and protect company assets
• Welcome guests according to company standards and answer phones with professional etiquette
• Work cooperatively with colleagues and meet quality expectations

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• At least 2 years of related work experience
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience
• Able to move, lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds and stand, sit or walk for long periods
