Cast Technician – Orthopedic Clinic (OPD Surgical)

About the role

The Cast Technician supports orthopedic surgeons in both outpatient and inpatient settings, ensuring patients receive proper immobilisation and care for bone and joint injuries. The role combines hands‑on clinical work with documentation and safety responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist orthopedic surgeons during outpatient procedures, inpatient care, and in the operating room.
• Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, braces, and traction devices as directed.
• Report any significant changes in a patient’s condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records and use information technology tools.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary health‑care team.
• Manage departmental inventory of casts, splints, braces, and related supplies.
• Ensure a clean, safe working environment that minimises risks for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Provide health education relevant to the patient’s clinical condition and record it in the health record.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience after certification in a related field.
• Ability to identify, report, and document safety risks or incidents.
• Commitment to international and DOH patient‑safety goals and continuous professional development.
• Adherence to professional codes of ethics and environmental health standards.

Required skills

• Cast, splint and brace application and removal.
• Traction device set‑up and adjustment.
• Use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Inventory management of clinical supplies.
