Chief Accountant (Events Background) - Arabic Speaker

About the role

The Chief Accountant oversees the entire accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, regulatory compliance and strong internal controls. The role leads and develops the accounting team and acts as the main contact for external auditors and tax authorities. The position suits someone fluent in Arabic.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure timely month-end and year-end close
• Prepare financial statements accurately in line with IFRS and local GAAP
• Lead, mentor and develop the accounting team (Senior Accountant, General Accountant, AP)
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory filings and other regulatory requirements
• Act as primary point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities
• Review and strengthen internal controls, identify and close control gaps
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations and payment runs
• Support the Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Monitor and report on payables, receivables and the overall financial position

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• CA / ACCA / CPA / CMA preferred
• 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations and internal control frameworks
• Proven leadership and team management capability
