Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the daily accounting operations of Grand Mercure Dubai City, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and support for the hotel’s financial strategy. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role combines supervision of staff with hands‑on reconciliation and reporting duties.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting activities, mentor staff, and maintain effective teamwork.
• Verify daily bank balances and credit‑card reconciliations for Finance Director approval.
• Ensure the General Cashier report is accurate and that daily revenue is deposited.
• Perform month‑end reconciliations of all general‑ledger balances before issuing financial statements.
• Review monthly reports such as F&B and Cost Controller reports in line with company policy.
• Oversee timely tax payments and filings, resolving any variances.
• Prepare ad‑hoc monthly management reports as required.
• Assist the Financial Controller with accounting policy application, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Maintain organized filing of accounting records and contracts for easy retrieval.
• Stay updated on new regulations and Accor policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a comparable accounting role.
• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Proficiency in MS Word.
• Proficiency in MS PowerPoint.
• Experience with hotel finance and non‑finance systems.
