Chief Officer - SDPO

About the role

The Chief Officer – SDPO will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel’s Dynamic Positioning (DP) system. Reporting to the Master, you will ensure continuous on‑duty coverage, data recording and compliance with industry standards while supporting the DP team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the DP system according to operational requirements and maintain continuous on‑duty coverage in the DP control room.
• Record all DP system data and configure operating parameters for each voyage.
• Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of DP equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections of DP sensors, computers and reference systems.
• Apply IMCA guidelines and ensure the DP system meets all regulatory requirements.
• Train and supervise the Junior DP Officer (JDPO) to guarantee competence in DP operations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Full and unlimited DP certification.
• Minimum of 4 years experience on DP‑equipped vessels.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Good knowledge of safety practices related to DP operation.
