Chief Steward – Luxury Resort

About the role

The Chief Steward will lead the stewarding department at Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, inventory control and staff performance in a luxury hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Safety Food Management System to guarantee high‑quality hygiene standards.
• Set and uphold departmental standards, training staff to perform duties efficiently and safely.
• Create and manage work schedules for all stewarding personnel.
• Oversee proper washing, cleaning, drying and storage of silver, glassware, chinaware, pots and pans.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure cleaning equipment is serviced according to standards.
• Prepare and verify inventory lists for both internal and external functions.
• Control the use of chemicals and detergents to meet specification requirements.
• Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager to manage inventories and stock levels.
• Keep storerooms tidy, monitor uniform grooming, and enforce safety signage during cleaning operations.
• Report maintenance defects to Engineering and log daily briefings for supervisors.
• Track breakages, produce monthly breakage reports and ensure adherence to the cleaning schedule.

Required profile

• Proven experience in stewarding or similar hospitality operations, preferably in a luxury resort.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate and schedule a team.
• Thorough knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations and proper chemical handling.
• Excellent organizational abilities for inventory management and record‑keeping.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high service standards.
