Civic Engagement & Service Specialist (Community Outreach)

About the role

The Civic Engagement and Service Specialist will design, coordinate and deliver culturally grounded civic‑engagement programs that connect NYUAD students with Abu Dhabi’s diverse communities. Reporting to the Head of Civic Engagement Service, the role bridges academic life with local heritage, history and social initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed project plans for signature annual events such as The Great Nurdle Hunt and Iftar Sa’em, managing timelines, milestones and deliverables.
• Assist the Assistant Director in planning, coordinating and delivering the Give Where You Live (GWYL) program, including student engagement, logistics and partner coordination.
• Recruit, train and supervise student volunteers for GWYL and Project Outreach (PO) activities.
• Lead the coordination and delivery of Project Outreach, overseeing all logistical aspects, transportation, event setup and risk management.
• Identify and develop volunteering opportunities that align with institutional goals and UAE community priorities.
• Administer the department’s GivePulse platform, ensuring accurate program listings, student check‑in, registration and data tracking.

Required profile

• Qualified candidates with experience in community partnership development and volunteer program management.
• Strong understanding of UAE cultural context and compliance with local regulations.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with faculty, staff, students and external partners.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural academic environment.
