Civil Engineer - Project Management: Power

About the role

EtihadWE is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support its power infrastructure projects, especially the construction of power substations and power cable networks. The role is predominantly site-based and involves supervising civil construction, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and making sure work follows approved engineering specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor civil construction for power substations and cable projects against approved drawings, specifications and requirements.
• Carry out regular site inspections of progress, workmanship, quality and adherence to the schedule.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, project teams and power utilities.
• Review method statements, inspection and test plans, checklists and other civil works documents.
• Prepare, issue and follow up on site memos, non-conformity reports (NCRs) and field change requests.
• Identify technical challenges, coordinate corrective actions and follow up with contractors.
• Maintain site records, inspection reports and progress documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance and support corrective and preventive actions to improve quality.
• Take part in site meetings, technical discussions and progress reviews, and give practical recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure projects, especially power substations and power cables.
• Preferred: experience with EPC contractors and engineering consultants, and with power utilities; overhead line experience is an advantage.
• Strong practical site supervision experience and ability to work in a predominantly site-based environment.

Required skills

• Understanding of construction drawings, technical specifications, method statements, inspection checklists and quality control procedures.
• Experience preparing and following up on site memos, NCRs and field change requests.
• Good coordination, problem-solving, communication and reporting skills.
