Civil Engineer – Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Project

About the role

The Civil Engineer will lead the civil works for a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant in Fujairah, UAE. This role involves planning, executing, and monitoring structural and infrastructure components to meet design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee execution of all civil and structural works for the SWRO plant, including foundations, buildings, tanks, pipelines, intake and outfall structures.
• Supervise construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams for integrated project delivery.
• Review and validate design drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
• Monitor site progress, conduct inspections, and align activities with the project schedule.
• Implement QA/QC processes, address non‑conformities, and ensure adherence to HSE policies and UAE regulations.
• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Support testing, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and preparation of progress reports and site documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of civil construction experience, preferably on industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in desalination (SWRO) or large water‑treatment plant projects.
• Strong knowledge of marine works, concrete structures, and hydraulic infrastructure.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, BS, ASTM, Eurocodes).
• Experience working in the Middle East, preferably the UAE.
• Professional certifications or memberships are a plus.
