Civil Inspector - NDRC / Micro-tunneling

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Civil Inspector in Dubai to supervise and inspect stormwater drainage and microtunneling works. The role ensures that civil activities are carried out in line with approved drawings, specifications and project standards, while meeting quality, safety and authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and apply codes, standards and specifications for stormwater and microtunneling works such as pipelines, shafts, chambers, culverts and outfalls.
• Carry out daily inspections against shop drawings, method statements and specifications, covering excavation, shoring, backfilling, microtunneling drives, shaft construction, reinforcement, concrete pouring, waterproofing and finishing.
• Check alignment, gradients and levels of pipelines, chambers and manholes.
• Ensure works comply with Dubai Municipality (DM), RTA and other authority standards and approved quality control procedures.
• Record and report daily manpower, equipment and material deliveries, and prepare daily inspection reports with observations, progress, test results and safety notes.
• Supervise concrete curing, coating and lining works.
• Assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions and verifying contractor responses and close-out.
• Coordinate with the contractor on civil works issues and corrective actions, and review RFIs, method statements and variance requests.
• Support surveying and measurement checks for pipe routes, invert levels and structural tolerances, and monitor testing, commissioning and handover of stormwater networks.
• Coordinate with client representatives and authority inspectors, and maintain records of inspections, NCRs, test results and as-built updates.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction supervision and inspection of NDRC, sewerage, drainage and microtunneling projects.
• Proven experience in microtunneling, including launching and reception shafts, pipe jacking, tunneling operations, deep excavations and shoring systems.
• Familiarity with Dubai Municipality, RTA, DEWA and other UAE authority requirements.

Required skills

• Inspection procedures for sewerage pipelines, manholes, chambers and reinforced concrete structures.
• Trenchless construction methodologies.
