Civil / Structural Inspector - PMC (3-Month Contract)

About the role

A global project management consultancy client needs a well-experienced Civil/Structural Inspector to join its team in Abu Dhabi. The role covers civil and structural inspection of civil construction projects, mainly on major new build projects in the Emirates. It is an initial 3-month contract, outsourced through J10 Consulting, with immediate joining.

Key responsibilities

• Handle inspection requests (IRs) submitted by the contractor and act on them in a timely way
• Review shop drawings against contract drawings, specifications, local codes, statutory requirements and international best practice
• Report works that do not match approved drawings and specifications to stakeholders
• Monitor quality of works and assess site safety, including health and environmental issues, in line with contractual and QCS specifications and safety and health risk assessments
• Maintain daily site records such as progress photos, available for inspection when needed
• Prepare surveillance reports on work deficiencies and non-conformance reports (NCR) as events develop
• Ensure coordination between different disciplines and give technical input to resolve on-site issues

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 8-10+ years of experience supervising major new build projects
• Previous experience in a similar role within an engineering consultancy or supervision consultant
• Only candidates who have worked as a Civil/Structural Inspector for a recognised consultancy or PMC in the UAE will be considered
• Good written and oral communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with project personnel and management
