Classroom Assistant (UAE National) - Immediate Start

About the role

Aldar Education is recruiting a Classroom Assistant (UAE National) for Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi, a British curriculum school with Lower, Middle and Senior Schools, to start immediately. The assistant supports pupils and helps class teachers deliver lessons and run the school.

Key responsibilities

• Support individual pupils and groups inside and outside the classroom so they can take part in school activities, and look after their social, emotional and physical well-being
• Be proactive on health and safety matters
• Help implement individual education programmes and monitor pupils' progress
• Support pupils with additional needs, such as emotional and behavioural difficulties, and help develop their social skills
• Assist class teachers with pupil records, displays of pupils' work, photocopying and other teaching tasks
• Comply with health and safety, legislation and school policies
• Academic assistance: give group or individual instruction as prescribed by the teacher, demonstrate activities, check and correct pupils' work, keep pupils on task and report progress to the teacher
• Check attendance, supervise pupils in classrooms and other areas, and reorganise materials at the end of the day
• Take part in developing the behaviour policy, promote pupils' self-esteem and discipline misbehaviour in line with school policy

Required profile

• UAE National with a minimum secondary school certificate or bachelor's degree
• At least two years of experience in a school setting
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not the first language
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check; offers are subject to satisfactory references and police clearance
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
