Clinic Support Assistant

About the role

The Clinic Support Assistant provides essential administrative and clinical assistance within a hospital setting, working under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals. This role helps ensure smooth patient flow, maintains clinical area readiness, and supports safe and effective patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organise clinical and waiting areas for patient consultations, procedures and treatments.
• Provide non‑interventional assistance such as chaperoning, consumable preparation and room turnover during examinations.
• Perform basic patient care tasks (e.g., mobility assistance) when trained and under supervision.
• Ensure medical equipment is cleaned, sterilised and ready for use according to NMC policy.
• Manage patient records, schedule appointments and handle admissions, discharges and follow‑up calls while maintaining confidentiality.
• Monitor and restock medical supplies, transport patient specimens and escort patients between departments.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification may be required.
• Knowledge of basic clinical procedures and healthcare practices.
• Strong communication and organisational skills for interacting with patients, families and staff.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow clinical instructions accurately.
• Physical stamina to assist with patient care and clinical tasks.

Required skills

• Basic IT skills for handling medical software and patient databases.
• Ability to operate and sterilise medical equipment in line with NMC policies.
