Clinical Nurse Lead

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Lead / Senior Registered Nurse – Mental Health will deliver advanced, evidence‑based nursing care to patients in an inpatient or community mental health setting. Reporting to senior management, the role combines direct patient care with professional leadership to ensure safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred services that meet Department of Health standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation for mental health patients.
• Supervise, mentor and lead nursing staff and healthcare aides to maintain safe and effective practice.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated care.
• Conduct mental health risk assessments, manage crisis situations and ensure timely escalation.
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulations and governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current Department of Health licence or eligibility letter.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in mental health or psychiatric care.
• At least 3 years experience in a team‑lead role.
