CNC Machinist - API Equipment Manufacturing

About the role

Energy is looking for a CNC Machinist to operate CNC lathes, in particular the Hankook Protec 9NC CNC Lathe, according to manufacturer instructions and QHSE policies. The machinist produces the products specified in Work Orders within the required time frame and quality standards, and may need to travel across the Middle East and GCC countries.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines, including the Hankook Protec 9NC, Doosan 800 and Doosan 400, using materials supplied with each Work Order.
• Check cutting tools and materials before starting work, replace tools from stores and report material defects to the Workshop Supervisor.
• Run the machine safely and maintain QHSE safety and housekeeping standards.
• Coordinate with the QC inspector after completion of work and ensure a handover of work and safety information at the start and end of each shift.
• Read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, operation sequences and setup requirements.
• Start and observe machine operation, detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls as needed.
• Select, align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and accessories.
• Perform other field, maintenance or shop duties assigned by the supervisor, and keep the work area clean.
• Program Fanuc CNC controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience with CNC lathes and minimum 3 years on the Hankook Protec 9NC.
• Experience in API equipment manufacturing and repair, and API threading; premium threading experience desirable.
• Ideally extensive workshop experience in oil and gas companies.
• Trade Machinist qualification; Matriculation certificate preferred.
• Good verbal and written English.
• Able to work in an industrial workshop and possibly travel across the Middle East and GCC.

Required skills

• Expert programming, setting and operating of CNC lathes, especially the Hankook Protec 9NC.
• Programming of Fanuc 21i-TB and Fanuc 32i Model B controls.
• Precision measuring equipment and dimensional checking of components.
