Commis 1 - Hotel Kitchen

About the role

Courtyard by Marriott in Abu Dhabi is hiring a full-time Commis 1 for its food and beverage kitchen. The role covers basic food preparation, cooking and kitchen housekeeping, and is a non-management position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food, and wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients, then prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and the food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods to make sure they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality.
• Set up and break down the workstation and serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment, and check appliance and food temperatures.
• Follow company and safety and security policies, report maintenance needs, accidents and injuries, and complete safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance, keep proprietary information confidential and protect company assets.
• Work in a team, support colleagues and meet quality expectations.
• Physical demands include standing, sitting or walking for long periods, reaching overhead and below the knees, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.
