Commis 1 – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis 1 will support the culinary team at St. Regis Dubai by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a luxury hotel setting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, chop, wash and peel fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
• Measure, weigh and mix ingredients according to recipes and quality standards.
• Cook cold and hot foods, operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality and ensure proper presentation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment.
• Check appliance and food temperatures and follow safety and security policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
• Ability to stand, walk and lift objects up to 25 lb throughout the shift.
• Willingness to follow company policies, safety training and maintain professional appearance.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation, portioning and basic cooking techniques.
