About the role

The Commis Chef at DoubleTree By Hilton Resort And Spa Marjan Island prepares and presents high-quality dishes to deliver an excellent guest and member experience while helping the kitchen meet its departmental targets. The position is full-time and based in Ras Al Khaimah.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes according to approved recipes, Hilton brand standards and presentation guidelines.
• Manage guest orders, execute menu items within service timelines and know the menu and preparation techniques.
• Oversee assigned stations, check dishes before service and keep food quality and presentation standards.
• Prepare mise en place, maintain stock levels, run inventory checks and requisition food and kitchen supplies.
• Support food cost control through portioning, waste reduction and efficient use of ingredients.
• Keep the kitchen clean, sanitary and organised, preventing cross-contamination.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, fire and security regulations and local laws.
• Support the Kitchen Brigade, colleagues and other departments, and report maintenance, hygiene and safety concerns.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Apprentice Chef or in a similar culinary role in hospitality is advantageous.
• An accredited commercial cookery programme, culinary qualification or trade apprenticeship is advantageous.
• NVQ Level 1 in Food Preparation and Cooking or a related qualification; Level 2 is an added advantage.
• Certification in basic food hygiene, food safety or an equivalent food handling course is advantageous.
• A strong passion for food and cooking, a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Effective communication, teamwork and strong multitasking and organisational skills.
