About the role
The Commis Chef supports the senior cook by handling basic food preparation and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely service and uphold the restaurant’s standards of quality and safety. This full-time position focuses on mise‑en‑place, hygiene and cost control.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the senior cook in daily food production.
- Collect required food items from stores and the butchery.
- Prepare mise‑en‑place according to the section head’s directions.
- Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
- Attend training classes and record new recipes and procedures.
- Keep equipment clean and ensure regular maintenance.
- Control food waste to stay within budget without compromising quality.
- Follow health, safety and fire‑life safety policies and cleaning rotas.
- Comply with the company's corporate code of conduct.
- Familiarize with company values and model desired behaviors.
- Perform tasks as directed by management.
