Commis - Children's Museum Café

About the role

OliOli® is a contemporary children's museum in Dubai with an in-house café, La Petite Treehouse, serving guests after their visit. The Commis works alongside the kitchen team to deliver high-quality food and maintain kitchen operations, reporting to the Chef in Charge. The role needs culinary experience, creativity, basic food hygiene knowledge and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu and recipes, ensuring taste, presentation and quality
• Take care of plating meals under the Chef de partie's supervision
• Support the chef de partie and Chef in Charge in developing new dishes and menus
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and follow food safety and hygiene regulations
• Report issues to help improve the guest experience
• Assist with inventory management, stock control and ordering supplies; receive deliveries and check their quality
• Maintain kitchen equipment, execute cooking efficiently during peak hours and minimise food wastage
• Work closely with servers for prompt, accurate food service and handle customer inquiries and dietary requirements professionally

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Commis or equivalent in a culinary environment
• Ability to work 6 days a week, including weekends and public holidays
• Interest in a child-friendly environment and willingness to engage visitors about the museum's activities
• Willingness to undergo training such as first aid or food hygiene

Required skills

• Strong culinary skills with an eye for detail and presentation
• Pleasant, confident customer service and communication skills
• Understanding of basic food hygiene
