Commissioning Engineer (Instrumentation)

About the role

Archirodon, an international EPC contractor active for more than half a century in Energy, Marine, Infrastructure and Defence & Security projects, is looking for a Commissioning Engineer (Instrumentation) in Abu Dhabi. The role covers planning, coordinating and executing instrumentation pre-commissioning and commissioning in line with project specifications, ADNOC standards and international codes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute instrumentation pre-commissioning and commissioning according to project specs, ADNOC standards and ISA/IEC codes.
• Review and verify loop drawings, P&IDs, control philosophies and logic diagrams against approved design.
• Perform loop-checking, functional testing, calibration and configuration of smart transmitters, control valves and final control elements.
• Supervise subcontractors during instrument installation verification, signal testing and system energization.
• Interface with DCS, ESD, F&G, SCADA and PLC vendors to resolve technical issues and integrate instrumentation systems.
• Ensure accurate commissioning dossiers, as-built markups and punch list closure are handed over to the client.
• Follow HSE and permit-to-work procedures, and coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams for integrated testing.
• Report progress, support training and knowledge transfer to client operations, and close out commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 10-12 years of experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning of instrumentation for Oil & Gas / Petrochemical projects.
• ADNOC-approved or equivalent vendor/systems training preferred (Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens).
• Experience with EPC/PMC contractors at ADNOC sites or equivalent preferred.

Required skills

• Instrument calibration, control system architecture and loop verification.
• P&ID, I/O list and logic diagram interpretation.
• Nice to have: digital instrumentation, AMS, fieldbus (HART/FOUNDATION Fieldbus), permit-to-work and field isolation procedures.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office and commissioning management software; familiarity with data handlers and vendor configuration tools for DCS and ESD.
