Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Kanadevia Inova is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning activities for waste‑to‑X projects in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that design, contract, and project specifications are met while coordinating with customers and technical teams on site.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, control, and store project documentation related to commissioning.
• Manage and coordinate all commissioning activities within the assigned system scope.
• Act as the primary contact for the customer on site for commissioning and operational matters.
• Identify deviations and risks, and work with technical departments to mitigate them.
• Ensure safe operation, HSE compliance, and completion of QA/QC and hand‑over documentation before project takeover.

Required profile

• Experience on large‑scale industrial plants, preferably waste‑to‑energy or thermal plants.
• SMSTS/IOSH/NEBOSH equivalent supervisor qualification.
• Valid SCC (Safety Certification for Contractors) or equivalent.
• Business‑fluent English; additional languages such as German are a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Commissioning of KVI or Energy‑from‑Waste plants.
• Knowledge of thermal plant processes (EfW, biomass, coal, oil).
• Experience with complex construction and commissioning projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with PIRS, function plans, PID (R&I schema), and DCS systems.
• Sub‑contractor management and coordination.
