Commissioning Engineer - Smart Building Systems (BMS)

About the role

A BMS Commissioning Engineer is sought to commission, test, troubleshoot and hand over Building Management Systems. The engineer ensures BMS installations run efficiently and meet project specifications, approved drawings, client requirements and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Commission, test, troubleshoot and verify BMS controllers, field devices, sensors, actuators, panels, servers, workstations and software
• Verify points, graphics, sequences of operation, alarms, trends, schedules and control strategies against approved requirements
• Run point-to-point checks, loop checks, functional performance tests and system optimisation
• Integrate BMS with HVAC, fire alarm, energy management and electrical systems using BACnet, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks or similar protocols
• Coordinate with project managers, consultants, MEP contractors and site teams
• Carry out FAT, SAT and client demonstrations, and resolve hardware, software, communication and control faults
• Prepare commissioning reports, test records, point lists, as-built and handover documentation
• Support client training and the transition to operations and maintenance, and provide technical support during warranty

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering or a related field
• 3-7 years of experience in BMS commissioning, testing and troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with BMS platforms, controllers, field devices, HVAC controls and GUIs
• Good knowledge of HVAC systems, control sequences and building automation
• Ability to read BMS drawings, control schematics, point lists and technical documents
• UAE/GCC project experience preferred; valid UAE driving licence is an advantage
