Community Engagement & Accessibility Unit Head

About the role

The museum is seeking a senior leader to head its Community Engagement & Accessibility Unit. The role will shape and drive an inclusive strategy that removes barriers for diverse audiences, including People of Determination, seniors, multilingual groups, and neurodivergent visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of the museum’s community engagement and accessibility strategy, annual plans, KPIs, and budgets.
• Manage a team of specialists, overseeing recruitment, performance, coaching, and professional development.
• Oversee planning, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of all community engagement and accessibility programmes.
• Integrate accessibility into strategic planning, exhibitions, digital content, events, procurement and capital projects.
• Act as the museum’s accessibility subject‑matter expert, conducting audits and guiding continuous improvement.
• Represent the museum on accessibility and inclusion matters locally and internationally.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in community engagement, accessibility or inclusive design, preferably within cultural or museum settings.
• Strong ability to collaborate across departments and embed universal design principles.
• Experience managing budgets, performance metrics and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills for internal advocacy and external representation.
