Competency Development Specialist

About the role

The Specialist, Competency Development will lead the design, implementation and maintenance of competency‑based development programmes for a global energy maritime logistics leader. The role supports ADNOC Group’s strategic objectives by enhancing workforce skills and fostering a performance‑driven culture.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update competency development policies, procedures and practices to align with global best practices.
• Partner with business leaders to create competency models, career paths and training programmes that meet strategic initiatives.
• Identify training gaps against position competencies and conduct consultative sessions with functional heads and employees.
• Implement competency‑based individual development plans for UAE national employees.
• Coordinate with line management to schedule competency programme roll‑outs.
• Develop and maintain reference material for competency development, ensuring world‑class quality.
• Collaborate with the Training function to design on‑the‑job training programmes and analyse results for continuous improvement.
• Develop and track Competency Assurance Programs in line with ADNOC’s management systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading competency development or talent development initiatives.
• Strong understanding of HR policies, competency frameworks and career development.
• Ability to work closely with senior business leaders and functional heads.
• Excellent analytical and consultative skills to identify skill gaps and recommend solutions.
• Experience supporting UAE national employee development is preferred.
