Compliance Technology Specialist

About the role

Deriv is hiring a Compliance Technology Specialist in Dubai, an individual contributor role that extends systems already running in production rather than proposing new ideas. The person leads through technical expertise, mentors others and shapes how the team works, owning components within one or two of three areas: regulatory monitoring and intelligence, onboarding/AML and fraud workflows, and RegTech integration. The work covers NLP, microservices, rule engines, AI/ML, blockchain and digital identity.

Key responsibilities

• Build regulatory monitoring systems that aggregate rule changes across jurisdictions, use NLP to interpret them and generate alerts with a recommended action
• Replace manual review with onboarding, AML and fraud detection workflows built on microservices and rule engines
• Turn regulatory obligations into tooling, governance and audit evidence
• Evaluate and integrate AI/ML, blockchain and digital identity tools into KYC, transaction monitoring and sanctions screening, including crypto transaction monitoring, counterparty risk scoring and Travel Rule adherence
• Design automated data governance frameworks aligned to GDPR, ISO 27001 and DORA
• Build AI-driven risk models and simulations for fraud and operational risk that human reviewers can interpret and stress-test

Required profile

• Experience shipping compliance systems in production: microservices, rule engines and NLP pipelines
• Able to read a regulation and build the tooling, governance and audit trail it needs
• Comfortable leading through ambiguity and mentoring newer engineers and analysts
• Fluent in GDPR, ISO 27001 and DORA, or close enough to know where to dig deeper
