Condition Assessment Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Condition Assessment Engineer to join Bureau Veritas in Abu Dhabi. The role involves investigating concrete cracking, distress, corrosion and durability issues in existing and under‑construction structures, performing laboratory testing, estimating remaining service life and delivering technical reports with root‑cause analysis and repair recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations and condition assessments of concrete structures, including visual inspections and documentation of distress.
• Assess concrete durability performance, identify deterioration mechanisms and evaluate contributing factors such as exposure conditions and material quality.
• Plan, coordinate and interpret laboratory tests (e.g., concrete strength, corrosion testing) and integrate results into engineering assessments.
• Perform service‑life estimation and durability forecasting using established methodologies.
• Develop root‑cause findings and provide engineering recommendations for repair, rehabilitation or strengthening.
• Prepare clear client‑facing and internal technical reports summarising observations, test results, analysis and recommendations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in forensic engineering or condition assessment of concrete and structural assets.
• Demonstrated knowledge of concrete durability requirements and deterioration mechanisms.
• Proven ability to prepare detailed professional reports with technical conclusions and recommendations.
• Experience with repair materials, surface preparation and strengthening/rehabilitation approaches.
