Consultant - General Surgery Vascular

About the role

NMC Healthcare is hiring a Consultant in General Surgery, Vascular, based in Abu Dhabi. The role covers ambulatory and hospitalized surgical patients of all complexities, within the scope of competence and approved privileges, and includes after-hours on-call emergency coverage for vascular and trauma cases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert surgical care to ambulatory and hospitalized patients, including pre- and post-operative cases, and render care to patients as assigned
• Perform outpatient consultations and provide consultation services to physicians and other specialists
• Order diagnostic laboratory studies and X-rays, determine the diagnosis and prescribe therapy
• Manage and review the quality of patient care, taking part in morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review and quality assurance activities
• Take part in in-service training, CME/CNE programmes, departmental meetings and hospital committees
• Develop departmental KPIs, guidelines, protocols and pathways in line with international standards and statutory requirements
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, EHSMS, DOH, JCI and ISO regulations and maintain confidentiality
• Provide after-hours on-call emergency coverage for vascular and trauma cases

Required profile

• Qualified and licensed medical practitioner
• At least 3-5 years of post-qualification experience at consultant level (independent of country)
• At least 1 year of consultant-level experience in a Tier 1 country as defined by the UAE healthcare regulator
• Basic medical degree and a recognized fellowship or diploma
• Certification and registration in a specialty recognized by the UAE authority
• Active and valid life support certification (BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
