Consultant in Fetal Medicine

About the role

A hospital in Dubai is seeking an experienced Consultant in Fetal Medicine to provide expert care in the diagnosis, assessment and management of fetal conditions and high-risk pregnancies. The role involves advanced fetal imaging, counselling expectant parents, managing fetal abnormalities and performing fetal interventions, working closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists and other specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage fetal abnormalities using advanced ultrasound and other prenatal diagnostic techniques.
• Perform detailed fetal anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography and growth assessments.
• Provide prenatal counselling on fetal conditions, prognosis and management options.
• Assess maternal medical and obstetric history and develop individualized care plans.
• Perform or supervise invasive prenatal diagnostics such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
• Carry out fetal therapeutic interventions, including fetal blood transfusions and fetoscopic procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in obstetrics, neonatology, genetics, pediatric surgery and radiology.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, take part in quality improvement, audits, teaching and research, and keep up to date through professional development.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Fellowship or certification in Fetal Medicine from a recognized international body.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Consultant in Fetal Medicine in a reputable tertiary care hospital.
• Western education and/or experience in a recognized healthcare system (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or equivalent) is mandatory.
• Eligibility for or possession of a valid DHA, DOH or MOH Consultant license.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
