Specialist Pediatric NICU/PICU

About the role

University Hospital Sharjah is recruiting a Specialist Pediatric for its NICU/PICU unit. This is a clinical role within the hospital's Clinical Services, central to establishing services at an international standard and meeting accreditation requirements. Candidates must have at least 5 years of practice after their highest qualification and international healthcare and academic experience, and must obtain the appropriate evaluation and license.

Key responsibilities

• Admit patients and record full admission documentation, order treatments and medications, and initiate investigations
• Keep daily records of inpatient progress and follow up patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, including investigation results
• Prepare patients for procedures or surgery, obtain informed consent where applicable, and perform invasive procedures or surgery within privileges
• Receive calls from the Emergency Department, other departments and hospitals, and see referred patients
• Provide on-call coverage on a rotational basis during evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays
• Maintain medical records, participate in medical staff meetings, committees and quality improvement activities, and implement clinical pathways and guidelines
• Teach undergraduate medical students of the University of Sharjah and comply with JCI procedures and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• American Specialty Board or equivalent, in line with the MOH table of equivalency
• 5 years of clinical experience after certification in the specialty, in an active, acute-care accredited institution or equivalent
• UAE Ministry of Health license
• Publications and research papers in credible journals

Required skills

• Desirable: BLS and ACLS certificates
• International healthcare and academic experience
