Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon – Transplant Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon with proven expertise in cardiac transplantation to join a leading tertiary pediatric cardiac centre in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering world‑class surgical outcomes for complex congenital heart disease and transplant cases across infants, children and adolescents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries, including congenital heart defect repairs, redo procedures and high‑risk neonatal operations.
• Lead the pediatric heart transplantation programme – donor evaluation, recipient selection, surgical transplantation and post‑operative care.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative management for pediatric cardiac patients in close collaboration with ICU, cardiology, anesthesia and perfusion teams.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows and trainees while contributing to clinical research, audits and academic publications.
• Ensure compliance with surgical safety, infection‑control standards and DOH Abu Dhabi documentation requirements.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent recognised by DOH Abu Dhabi, with Board Certification/Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery and subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
• Valid DOH Consultant License or eligibility letter in Cardiac Surgery.
• 7–10 years of post‑fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery, including transplant programmes.
• Strong leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration and ability to work in a high‑acuity tertiary environment.
