Consultant Pediatric Intensivist – PICU

About the role

Stafmed is recruiting a highly experienced Consultant Pediatric Intensivist to join a leading hospital in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves delivering advanced, evidence‑based critical care to severely ill children within a dedicated Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care management for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
• Manage complex medical, surgical and post‑operative cases, including respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, trauma and multi‑organ dysfunction.
• Perform and supervise advanced critical care procedures and interventions.
• Deliver pre‑operative, operative and post‑operative critical care support.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and evidence‑based guidelines.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, anesthesiologists and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Support medical education, training and departmental development.

Required profile

• Board certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Intensive Care.
• Recognised Tier 1 qualification (e.g., ABMS, Canadian Royal College, UK CCT/CCST or equivalent).
• Minimum 3–5 years of post‑specialisation experience in Pediatric Intensive Care.
• Eligibility for consultant‑level licensing with DHA, DOH or MOHAP.

Required skills

• Extensive experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
• Advanced airway management and respiratory support expertise.
• Proficiency in pediatric emergency and critical care procedures.
• Strong clinical decision‑making and leadership abilities.
