Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon

About the role

A leading government healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon. The consultant provides specialized surgical care for infants, children and adolescents needing plastic and reconstructive procedures, covering congenital, acquired and traumatic conditions in line with Abu Dhabi DOH PQR and hospital clinical governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-level care in pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery
• Perform procedures such as cleft lip and palate repair, congenital anomalies of the face, hands and body, pediatric burns and scar reconstruction, soft tissue reconstruction and pediatric facial trauma
• Handle pre-operative assessment, operative management and post-operative follow-up
• Provide emergency and on-call surgical cover according to hospital rota
• Work with pediatricians, ENT, orthodontists, speech therapists and other specialties, taking part in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff
• Take part in teaching, audits and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate, compliant clinical documentation and follow DOH and hospital policies and ethical standards

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree
• Recognized specialty qualification in Plastic Surgery (e.g. ABPS, UK CCT/CCST, Canadian or other DOH-recognized qualification, Irish, Australian boards)
• Minimum 3 years post-board/post-CCT as a Consultant, or minimum 5 years post-specialty in a tertiary care setting
• Demonstrated experience in pediatric plastic surgery
• Eligible for or holding a DOH Consultant License in Plastic Surgery
