Consultant Physician - Endocrinology

About the role

SSMC is recruiting a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology in Abu Dhabi. The post holder leads and supervises the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care, diagnoses, manages and treats patients under their care, sets an example of clinical excellence and provides leadership and training for junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the care of patients, including ward rounds, regular reassessment of inpatients and outpatients, and accurate documentation of clinical information
• Diagnose and treat patients according to best-practice standards, accept clinically appropriate referrals and liaise with other specialties and support services
• Prepare patients for procedures, including obtaining informed consent, and communicate clinical information to patients and families with their consent
• Provide on-call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, facilitate essential training, commit to continued medical education and promote clinical research and publication
• Help lead quality improvement, encourage regular audit, and support reporting and response to untoward incidents
• Follow hospital, departmental and divisional policies and procedures, assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and other administrative or clinical duties, and attend divisional meetings

Required profile

• Tier 1: at least 2 years of relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post-board certification
• Tier 2: at least 8 years of full-time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post-board certification in an internationally accredited institute (fellowship years count)
• For UAE nationals, each year of clinical fellowship after primary specialty board counts as two years of experience, for subspecialty fellowships in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, the USA or HAAD-accredited programmes
• Current national license or equivalent, and certified proof of yearly CME
