Consultant Psychiatrist

About the role

A leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE is hiring a Consultant Psychiatrist on a full-time basis. Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychiatric conditions
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations and risk assessments
• Develop individualized treatment plans combining pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy referrals and multidisciplinary care
• Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, and assess acute psychiatric emergencies, suicidal ideation and severe behavioural disturbances
• Manage chronic mental health disorders and conditions related to substance use, trauma and stress
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and relapse prevention
• Supervise and mentor junior physicians and team members
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, mental health legislation, confidentiality and patient safety standards

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry
• Board certification or equivalent consultant-level qualification; American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European or other internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred
• Eligible for DOH Consultant Psychiatry classification/license in Abu Dhabi, subject to UAE PQR requirements

Required skills

• Strong expertise in adult psychiatry, psychopharmacology, psychiatric emergencies and complex mental health management
• Excellent communication, clinical judgment and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
