Consultant Rheumatologist

About the role

A leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE is hiring a full-time Consultant Rheumatologist. The ideal candidate has extensive expertise in rheumatology, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory arthritis and complex musculoskeletal disorders, and is well suited to an internationally trained consultant seeking career growth and a competitive salary.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and other rheumatic diseases
• Evaluate and treat autoimmune disorders, inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases and vasculitis
• Manage patients with ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, gout and osteoporosis
• Develop individualized treatment plans using DMARDs, biologic therapies, immunosuppressants and other evidence-based treatments
• Perform joint aspirations, intra-articular injections and other rheumatology procedures within authorized clinical privileges
• Interpret diagnostic investigations such as autoimmune profiles, inflammatory markers, musculoskeletal ultrasound, X-rays and MRI
• Monitor disease progression, treatment effectiveness and medication-related complications
• Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, nephrologists, dermatologists, pulmonologists and other specialists
• Educate patients on disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications and long-term care
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, rheumatology treatment guidelines, infection control and patient safety standards

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine, followed by rheumatology specialization or subspecialty training
• Board certification or equivalent consultant-level qualification; American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European or other internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred
• Eligible for DOH Consultant Rheumatology classification/license in Abu Dhabi, subject to applicable UAE PQR requirements

• Strong expertise in autoimmune disorders, inflammatory arthritis, biologic therapies and complex rheumatological conditions
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
