Consultant / Senior Consultant, Accounting & Taxation

About the role

AKW Consultants, a global strategy advisory firm with offices in the UAE and the UK, is growing its Accounting & Taxation team. It is looking for a technically strong, detail-oriented professional who can manage several assignments, communicate confidently with clients and turn financial information into clear, practical advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting assignments, including bookkeeping oversight, reconciliations, month-end closing and preparation of financial statements.
• Prepare and review tax computations, returns and supporting schedules, ensuring accuracy and timely compliance.
• Support UAE VAT and Corporate Tax engagements, including registrations, filings and technical research.
• Analyse financial information, identify discrepancies and compliance risks and recommend practical improvements.
• Coordinate with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and give clear progress updates.
• Prepare management reports, Excel-based analyses and well-documented working papers.
• Manage competing deadlines while keeping quality, confidentiality and attention to detail.
• For Senior Consultant candidates: independently lead engagements, review junior team members' work and support their development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent qualification, completed or in progress, is preferred.
• Relevant experience in accounting and taxation, preferably within an accounting or consulting firm.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and applicable tax regulations; knowledge of IFRS is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and take ownership of deliverables.
• Experience level is set according to technical capability and experience; Senior Consultant candidates should show engagement ownership, review capability and team coordination experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including PivotTables, lookup functions, SUMIFS and financial data analysis; Power Query is a plus.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks or similar.
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound analytical judgment and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
