Consultant / Specialist Critical Care Medicine Physician - ICU

About the role

A leading tertiary-care hospital in Dubai is expanding its Intensive Care and Critical Care Medicine services and is looking for a Consultant / Specialist Critical Care Medicine Physician to join its multidisciplinary ICU team. The role focuses on assessing, stabilising and managing critically ill patients in a closed ICU model supported by intensivists, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians and specialty consultants. The position is full-time and ICU-based, with a minimum of 3 years of experience after specialisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage critically ill patients with sepsis, respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction and severe infections
• Lead ICU care for mechanically ventilated patients, including weaning protocols and respiratory support
• Perform and supervise advanced life support procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement and resuscitation
• Coordinate care for post-operative and trauma patients
• Take part in rapid response and code blue teams
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians and subspecialists
• Interpret laboratory results, imaging and bedside monitoring data
• Ensure infection control, ICU quality standards and compliance with international critical care guidelines and UAE regulations
• Counsel families on patient condition, prognosis and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, take part in clinical audits and quality improvement, and ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of practice after specialisation
• Recognised specialist qualification, for example:
• American Board of Internal Medicine - Critical Care Medicine
• American Board of Anesthesiology - Critical Care
• UK CCT / FRCA / MRCP with Critical Care Medicine training
• Royal College Certification (Canada)
• Australian Fellowship (FANZCA / CICM)
• Arab Board in Critical Care Medicine
• DM / DNB / MD / FCPS Critical Care Medicine or equivalent
