Controller – Budget and Cost

About the role

The Controller – Budget and Cost will coordinate, consolidate, and ensure the timely production of joint and associated venture budgets, including original and spring forecasts, for shareholders and venture companies. This senior finance professional will oversee budget processes, monitor variances, and support financial reporting across multiple divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor expenditure variances against budget limits, investigate over/under runs, and prepare mandatory reports for shareholders and management.
• Prepare consolidated fixed‑assets and depreciation schedules and respond to internal and external auditor queries.
• Direct and supervise personnel involved in preparing capital and operating budgets for company divisions.
• Coordinate with financial controllers to develop original and spring‑forecast budgets for joint and associated ventures, ensuring alignment with budget guidelines.
• Collect and consolidate input from user departments, produce single budget reports, and support budget presentations.
• Obtain information on capital and major‑maintenance schemes and ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and final accounts.
• Maintain and update the company fixed‑assets register for new and existing projects.
• Control capital commitments and expenditures, reviewing related financial statements and authorizations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting within a large organization.
• Strong analytical abilities to monitor variances and investigate anomalies.
• Leadership experience supervising finance personnel and coordinating cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with audit processes and preparation of financial schedules.
