Core Engineer – Build Intelligent Finance Backbone

About the role

Zelo is scaling its SME finance platform in the UAE and needs a Core Engineer to design and ship the backbone systems that power credit, workflow and procurement operations. You will work on both backend services and front‑end interfaces, delivering mission‑critical features in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop core backend services in Java for credit workflows, document processing and financial operations.
• Build responsive React/TypeScript front‑ends that integrate with backend APIs.
• Implement the Zelo Procure source‑to‑pay flow, including requisitions, purchase orders, supplier onboarding and embedded financing.
• Create event‑driven workflows and state machines for complex multi‑step business logic.
• Integrate AI/LLM capabilities for document intelligence, classification, extraction and decisioning.
• Develop data pipelines into Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse (Spark) for credit analytics and reporting.
• Maintain schema evolution using Liquibase and ensure robust, audited integration contracts with enterprise systems (SAP Ariba, Oracle Fusion, etc.).

Required profile

• Self‑motivated engineer who can take a one‑line requirement and deliver a complete solution.
• Strong ownership mindset – designs, builds and ships features end‑to‑end without hand‑holding.
• Passionate about building production‑grade systems with high reliability and auditability.
• Comfortable communicating with customers when needed.
