Core Sport Leader – Fitness & Intramural Sports Coordinator

About the role

The Core Sport Leader is responsible for delivering certified fitness classes, officiating intramural sporting events, and supporting the development of the overall fitness program and calendar. This position operates in an overseas environment and requires flexibility to work in extreme conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Teach aerobics, step‑aerobics, spin, weight/strength, cardiovascular and circuit training classes.
• Officiate all intramural sporting events and special events, ensuring fair play and safety.
• Assist in creating schedules that align with the AF Sports calendar and mission requirements.
• Coordinate 8‑10 special sports events each month, such as tournaments, weight‑lifting contests, and 5k/10k fun runs.
• Support documented fitness incentive programs (e.g., 200‑mile run, Fit to Fight, Biggest Loser).
• Instruct members on strength‑training principles, equipment use, and safety procedures.
• Develop customized training programs based on individual fitness goals.
• Maintain equipment hygiene, safety, and proper usage.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certification in accordance with AFI 34‑266 and other applicable AF fitness policies.
• Certified in Aerobics and Spin classes (preferred).
• Knowledge of officiating recreational sports (volleyball, softball, flag football, soccer, basketball) or willingness to learn.
• American Red Cross CPR, Standard First Aid and AED certifications (or local equivalents).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; U.S. passport preferred.
• Ability to meet USCENTCOM deployment policy requirements and obtain a UAE residency visa.
• Physical ability to work long hours in dust, high temperatures, and other hazardous conditions.
