Customs Clearance Agent

About the role

The Customs Clearance Agent ensures smooth and efficient clearance of air cargo shipments through customs, complying with all relevant regulations. Working closely with customs authorities, freight forwarders and internal teams, the role supports timely deliveries and maintains regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit customs declarations and required documentation for air shipments.
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve customs‑related issues.
• Coordinate with customs officials, airlines, freight forwarders and warehouse teams to secure cargo release.
• Maintain accurate records of all customs transactions for audits and compliance reporting.
• Stay updated on changes in customs laws, regulations and tariffs, and obtain special permits or exemptions when needed.
• Identify potential clearance delays, propose solutions, and handle disputes related to valuation, duties and classifications.
• Generate reports on clearance performance, duty costs and compliance risks.
• Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.

Required profile

• Knowledge of customs laws and regulations.
• Experience working with customs brokerage firms, freight forwarders or logistics companies.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience.
