Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

The Cybersecurity Engineer at University Hospital Sharjah designs, implements, monitors and improves security controls protecting the hospital's IT infrastructure, applications and data against cyber threats. The role ensures compliance with security standards, supports incident response and continuously strengthens the organisation's security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cybersecurity solutions across networks, systems, endpoints and cloud platforms
• Monitor security alerts and investigate suspicious activity using SIEM and security tools
• Perform vulnerability assessments, risk analysis and track remediation
• Lead and support incident response, including root cause analysis and reporting
• Implement and manage identity and access controls (IAM, MFA, PAM)
• Secure servers, endpoints, virtualisation, VDI and IoT environments
• Support cloud security configurations and posture management
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements
• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures and technical documentation
• Work with IT, application and business teams to embed security by design
• Configure and manage firewalls, switches, routers, access points and NAC technologies, and handle network hardware and software upgrades, patching and maintenance
• Manage Avaya unified communications systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• 3-7 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security or IT security roles
• Hands-on experience with enterprise security tools and platforms
• Experience in regulated environments such as healthcare, government or finance is an advantage

Required skills

• Certifications preferred: CEH, Security+, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Azure/AWS Security
• Hands-on security engineering experience
• Use of SIEM tools and security tools
